December 2008 - Gratitude and Expansion

Bookmark and Share

Gratitude is a very important part of creating more of whatever we want in our lives.  If you read the current national or international news, it would be tempting to see only "doom and gloom."   That would be a big mistake!!

We have so very much to be grateful for.  One way to have more is to focus on the positive aspects of our  lives, not on what we don't have.  I did a meditation recently that helps people to expand energy if you'd like to try it:

  1. Sit comfortably in a quite place, feet flat on the floor, hands uncrossed in your lap.

  2. Take a few deep breaths and relax.

  3. Imagine that you are a tree in a nursery with your branches bound up.  You are going to your new home.

  4. Imagine the workers come to take you to a new place where you will have plenty of room to grow and to breathe and to expand.

  5. See them and feel grateful for their careful tending of you in your life up to now.  Watch as they lovingly prepare the ground where you will live and place you in your new place.

  6. Look around and see wide open spaces.  Feel your branches expand as they are unbound.  Watch as the sun warms all parts of your self.  Watch as the gentle rain nourishes you.  Watch the birds come to enjoy your branches.  Watch as the squirrels and small animals come to play in your broad branches.  Watch as children come to play all around you.  See all this and FEEL the gratitude for just being alive.

  7. Know that you are completely cared for by Nature and the Elements.  You don't have to DO anything.  You just have to BE who you already are.  Feel the gratitude for living as you were meant to be without false constraints.

How to use this visualization: Use this exercise as a metaphor for seeking to let go of any false constraints that keep you from being who you really are.  Take some time to write down what you would do if you felt as free as the tree to live as you truly are.

Know that you - like the tree - are now expanding.  Your energy field is growing and being set free to express the fullness of who you really are.

Feel the gratitude that you can be who you truly are, without being bound up by any constraints.  Allow yourself to feel the freedom of how glorious that feels.

If you are thinking about creating sources of income, new business ideas or exploring expansion of a existing business, our book Income Without a Job has some great exercises to assist with that.
