October 2009 - Where ever you go, there you are

Bookmark and Share

Do you have dreams that never seem to get implemented?  Ideas that never see the light of day?

What are you doing to take the next step toward having them fulfilled?

Dreams do become reality when we are willing to take steps to make them happen and take actions that allow them to happen.

People who succeed will say that they achieved "overnight success" after years of hard work. It's not just one day you're tired and poor and discouraged, and the next day you're healthy and wealthy and wise.

Life is a journey of taking many, many small steps each building on the one before it that eventually leads to success.  Being in the  right place at the right time also helps.  However, if you are not ready with a plan or not able to recognize the opportunity when it knocks on your door, you'll never even know what you missed.

Whatever your own great idea is or your greatest wish is, do something every day or at least ever week to move it forward.  Think about it, write down your ideas, write down your plans, meditate on how it might look when it is fully implemented, visualize how you will feel when the idea is manifested, take steps to move the idea forward, keep working on it constantly one step at a time.

There's a new book out this month called The Leap: How 3 Simple Changes Can Propel Your Career from Good to Great by Rick Smith.  Rick talks about how most of his life he was considered "ordinary" someone who would never be wildly successful.  Yet, he had ideas and dreams that he wanted to achieve.  He worked on his ideas, he talked with people, he took chances sometimes and he was scared many times with the choices in front of him and the places he found himself.  In spite of seeming setbacks and wrong turns and disappointments,  he kept looking forward and would not give up when he had a great idea.  Today, he is successful beyond even his own wildest dreams and shares the reasons in his book.

One of the things Rick developed over the past 8 years is what seems to be a very simple 15 minute online quiz to determine a person's "primary color" that gives clues to their inner most personality and another shorter quiz to see whether your career is aligned with your primary color. Visit www.primarycolorassessment.com for more information.  It's a delightful and fun way to gain some insight that just might change your own life.

Remember, where ever you go, there you are.  YOU — in all your richness and glory — are what you have to work with.  That's the best news of all.  You already have what you need to be successful, right where you are right now.  Are you using that priceless asset to its full capability?  If not, what are you waiting for?  Today is the first day of the rest of your life.  Today is the day your life can change.

If you are thinking about creating sources of income, new business ideas or exploring expansion of a existing business, our book Income Without a Job has some great information and exercises to assist with that.
